The Rfd Park District and RYSL are mandated to follow the IDPH and local guidelines for indoor youth sports. As of 8-10-21 here are their requirements. Please make sure you can follow these guidelines prior to signing up your child:
"Individuals playing sports indoors must wear a mask during training, competition, other active exercise, and during other contacts that do not occur during gameplay, such as on the sideline or bench, in the locker room, during team meetings, in the weight room, on the team bus or when carpooling,
All spectators, regardless of vaccination status, should wear a mask in attendance at indoor youth sports events."
We will update mandates as needed.
All Players Will Need:
What size ball is best for my child?
Inclement Weather Policies:
Soccer is a game played in the rain. We will cancel only for poor playing conditions or threatening weather, or if the Park District closes the fields for poor field conditions.
The following is our inclement weather procedures. Rockford Park District contacts the RYSL League Administrator and makes a decision as to if games will be played. A decision on weather will be made by 4:00pm. If games are to be cancelled, RYSL parents can find out in the following ways:
We will schedule make up games within the season for games missed due to weather cancellation. Parents will be given notice as to when the make up games will occur.
Coaches decide if their trainings are canceled due to inclement weather, and notify their own teams.
The IDPH updated their sports guidance on June 11, 2021. As of right now, masks are no longer required for players in outdoor soccer. Coaches, referees and administrators, will now be deemed “spectators”. Vaccinated spectators are not required to wear masks, and unvaccinated spectators are required to wear masks when they cannot keep 6 feet of social distance.
If the guidance/mandates change, we will update here.
